Pets of the Week
Suki
Meet Suki, wonder-dog extraordinaire! She came to SFASHS after being hit by a car, unable to use her back legs. But this 6 year old beauty did not let that stop her. With TLC from the Shelter and the wonderful Sue Kelvey at Bounce Back Integrative Veterinary Rehabilitation (Bouncebackvetrehab.com) she can walk and is getting stronger with every visit! So far she has gone to Bounce Back twice, with her last visit on 05/01/13. Right now she is getting acupuncture which she loves! As well as hydrotherapy and she is doing great with sit/stands to help build muscle tone, which has improved already by her second visit! Come meet Suki and fall in love with this special, gentle-hearted girl. She also gets along with other dogs and is generally pretty polite! So if you think she would be a good fit, please consider her!

ROAD WORK THIS SUMMER
Expect some delays on Caja del Rio Road

The second stage of road improvements for our area may cause some slight delays to get here, but our animals are worth it!

The reconstruction for the southern segment of Caja Del Rio Rd (NM 599 intersection to just past Wildlife Way) started on April 1 and will continue through the fall. We'll try to keep you updated about the construction.

The good news is that the Meadows Road interchange across N.M. 599 (Veterans Memorial Highway) is now open. Drivers may now use the interchange to cross the highway and gain access to the shelter. Roundabouts are located on each side of the overpass on County Road 62, also known as Caja del Oro Grant Road.

Here are the detailed directions:

We are located at 100 Caja del Rio Road, near the municipal softball fields and the Marty Sanchez Golf Course. We are about 11 miles from Santa Fe's Plaza.

From Albuquerque and Interstate 25:

Take exit No. 276A/NM-599 S/Madrid.

Turn left onto Veterans' Memorial Highway (NM-599 S).

Take the turnoff at the CR 62 interchange, follow the roundabout over the highway and at the second roundabout follow the exit to Caja del Rio Road (which brings you to the Frontage Road.)

Turn right onto Caja del Rio Road.

The Shelter is on the right.

From Santa Fe:

Head north on St. Francis Drive.

Take the ramp onto Veterans' Memorial Hwy (NM-599) and onto the highway.

Take the turnoff at the CR 62 interchange, follow the roundabout and exit at Caja del Rio Road (which brings you to the Frontage Road.)

Turn right onto Caja del Rio Road.

The Shelter is on the right.
